Today the fashion world is reeling at the loss of one of its most visionary artists, Alexander McQueen.
While my own personal taste has always veered more toward the romantic than the avant garde at fashion week, i don’t think there is a single person who can deny the impact that McQueen had on hundreds of up-and-coming artists.
I guess there is a great amount of suffering that comes with being such a profound artist. Maybe that is what makes artists truly great. Who knows the psychology behind it, but the fact is that the loss of Alexander McQueen will leave a gaping hole in the industry.
Clicking through his most recent collections, it appears that he was inspired by the natural world, with collections that seem almost introspective and very reflective of nature.
Again, i wonder if sense of reflectivity that comes from being great. maybe it comes from being tortured. I will never know, and I will never have the ability to experience one of his shows in person, but i will celebrate the amazing mind that is now lost, truly before his career reached its heights. I guess that’s the stuff real legends are made of.
RIP.
RIP.
