in my eyes, the lebanese-born elie saab can do no wrong, particularly with couture. despite what reviewers say, i don't believe that couture fashion needs to be about continuously moving fashion forward (style.com claims the collection to feel heavy and old-fashioned). couture, to me, is about beauty and art. it's about creating pieces that are not only pleasing to the eye, but also pieces that portray a sense of romance and elegance. while for many fashion is about differentiating oneself from the rest of the group, for me it's about just feeling beautiful. and elie saab is one designer who knows beauty. the luxe collection is the epitome of beauty and elegance. besides, fashion - like beauty - is really in the perfectly smokey-eye of the beholder.
