Chanel Cruise 2009

I don't think anything needs to be said about Chanel's 2009 Cruise collection.
...worldly, airy, classic, daring, true Chanel art...
And set against the backdrop of Venice, one of the most romantic cities in the world. Sigh.

The Lady Noire Affair

Dior has finally posted their fabulous film noire, The Lady Noire Affair.

Marion Cotillard stars in this first part as Lady Noire, who must save her beloved from some ominous-looking villans. The film reunites Marion with her La Vie en Rose director, Olivier Dahan, who was the artistic brain behind this piece of true beauty.

The cinematography! The colouring! The clothes! All are a perfect juxtaposition of film and fashion and this is a must-watch for any fashion lover.

When seen side-by-side with Miss Dior Cherie, directed by the effervescent Sofia Coppola, these two films show how truly fashionable film can be.

Watch it below. Can't wait for part two, Lady Rouge!

Julia's NYC Apartment

The Selby was invited into the ultra-glamorous NYC apartment of Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, daughter of French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld.

The images are stunning... Julia's minimalist style shows off a light airy home which would make any girl envious.

These photos give a lovely insight into the life of one of the fashion world's most glamorous ladies. Too bad we didn't get a chance to see her closet!

The year's biggest fashion event

Four words: Met Costume Institute Gala. Arguably the fashion event of the year. The only event that comes close is the Oscars, and I find this one much more interesting. The ensembles at the Oscars are just so boring... everyone wants to make the best dressed lists and no one takes any risks.

Some highlights...

I love Coco Rocha. This goddess-like Isaac Misrahi gold lame piece perfectly highlights her fiery hair and her obvious feist.

Sasha Pivovarova in Giambattista Valli

Leighton Meester in Louis Vuitton. On its own this outfit is actually not very attractive, but Leighton gets huge points for taking a risk.

Lake Bell wears this Rag & Bone suit.

Katy Perry could pass for a Roman goddess in this Tommy Hilfiger.

One of my red carpet favourites, Marion Cotillard in Dior.

Ivanka Trump looks like cotton candy in this light, feathery Brian Reyes

Gisele shimmers in this royal blue Versace
Daria Werbowy in Balmain

Kate Bosworth channels old-world glamour in Stella McCartney
Blake Lively shows that she is a true fashion icon, in this aqua Versace.
Though I am team Juila Restoin-Roitfeld all the way, Bea Shaffer looks divine in Nina Ricci.

Ashley Olsen, in an Elizabeth & James backless gown, poses with Diane Kruger, in Chanel.
Ali Stephens isn't exactly a household name, but she dazzles in Narciso Rodriguez.

Couture Dream

Emily Blunt graces the newest issue of Vanity Fair in a dream of couture and romance. Promoting her new film The Young Victoria, Emily dons the latest couture gowns from the Paris Spring 2009 shows. Featuring the likes of Dior, Chanel, Armani, Lacroix, Givenchy, Valentino and Gaultier, and set in what appears to be a palace straight out of the Victorian age, the spread is one of the most beautiful I have seen.
